Modern technology is likely the most prominent aspect of
Western culture. The world is alive with the help of social media, cellphones,
the internet, and various gadgets, not to mention some lesser-acknowledged
technologies such as lights, household appliances, and transportation vehicles.
What do all of these technologies have in common besides the ability to connect
the world? The answer lies in the fundamentals of their being – their
programming. Each and every modern piece of technology works with the help of
multiple lines of code.
While programming is an overlooked part of today’s intricate
gadgets, it is a key part nonetheless. The world is extremely reliant on its
programmers. Without them, the world as we know it would be incredibly
different. We would be forced to say good bye to many luxuries. The “global
village” concept, which refers to the connection of the world as a result of
telecommunications, would be eradicated. The electronics that we use in our
lives would no longer exist. And, surprisingly, many of the common objects or
conditions we see every day, whether visibly electronic or not, would cease to
work. These include bridges, space exploration, and even some medicines, which
all are based on some level of programming.
Before anything else,
Programming is the process of taking an algorithm and
encoding it into a notation, a programming language, so that it can be executed
by a computer. It is a creative process done by programmers to
instruct a computer on how to do a task.

I am Crissa Lain R. Aguilos, a Grade 11 student in ITMAWE
and I would continue this path in my college.
WHY?
I WILL PURSUE I.T. RELATED COURSE
IN COLLEGE BECAUSE...
Single reason? To make a big change in other people's life.
As we all know, computer software has been changing everyday's life with
astonishing results.
Other people make beautiful (or a bit less
beautiful in some cases) paintings or drawings. Others weave intricate words
together to create stories captured in books and others still are able to build
new objects which we end up using everyday or which are just amazing to look
at. But I, I want to be a programmer. I want to create software. I want to live it, I want to breath it, I want to make it flow from my brain into the computer to create beautiful (or a bit less
beautiful in some cases) new programs. That's why I want to become a
programmer.
When I was a kid, I used to dream to be a teacher but as I grow up, I saw how the children's morality lags behind as time passes by, and the teachers today find it hard to discipline and control them. It is really true that "As technology advances, morality lags behind." I can see that the future society will be more full of trouble and disasters (made by humans). If I will be a teacher years from now, I can see that my life would be a nightmare...
I also dreamt to be a doctor, just because I want to be rich. But then, I can't take the super long years of studying, WE NEED MONEY, ASAP. Okay?! (lol xD)
During my Grade 7 and Grade 8 days, I really want to pursue Fine Arts or Music in college, because those are my passion in life. Music and Arts are my life. If I were to follow the whisper of my heart, I will really take either of the two or both. BUT I must follow my brain over my heart. . . Music and arts are good, but I know it couldn't bring me the life that I dreamt. It could completely fill my heart, but not my wallet.
Psychology, that's the perfect course I really want 'til now because I want to study our nature, our behavior and etc. of humans, because I am soooooo CURIOUS. If only I can, I will pursue both Psychology and I.T. in college; but I can't. One is enough. So I have to choose one, and that's I.T. Why?
Well, because of the better money income.
THAT'S IT. Now you got it ---> I N C O M E !!! <--- ^_^ the main reason why chose I.T. to be the course I will pursue in college.
There's a lot to like about programming as a profession.
WHAT DOES A DEVELOPER DO?
Programming is also important to our future. There are
endless possibilities for what may be accomplished with the help of
programming. Artificial intelligence robots are currently being developed. Who
knows what will come of such projects, given a hundred years’ more time? Maybe
our household chores will soon be replaced by household robots. Maybe robots
will help solve world issues such as poverty, hunger, and natural disasters.
Furthermore, there is endless potential for the field of computer engineering
when it comes to space exploration. There are an increasing amount of projects
to send humans out into space, and programming is what make these projects
possible.
Unfortunately, of the 7 billion people on this planet, the
majority of them are users, not developers. Few people are aware of the
potential of coding, and this is an issue that needs to be fixed. The change is
one that must begin with the new generation. The change must begin in schools.
In fact, only 10% of high schools even offer computer programming as a course.
Computer programming is considered “America’s untapped opportunity” by
Code.org. This is because, by 2020, there will be 1 million more jobs in
computer programming than students graduating from the field.
Clearly, computer programming is highly underrepresented in
schools. Our future in technology relies on the future of programming. So let’s
start the change today. Let’s turn users into a new generation of developers.
Let us unleash the incredible potential of programming.
